St. Jude Medical Named Medical Device

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 7, 2005 -- St. Jude Medical, Inc. (NYSE:STJ - News) has been named a Medical Device Manufacturer of the Year by Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry (MD&DI) magazine. This year the magazine selected a large public company, a small public company, and a small private company to receive its annual award.

In naming St. Jude Medical, the publication states, "The company embodies multiple strengths: good product development, support for innovation, straightforward sales and marketing tactics, and solid relationships with suppliers. At its core, though, St. Jude Medical's strength seems to come from a desire to both help and protect patients."

St. Jude Medical's strategic acquisitions and investments "have infused the company with innovative new products and enabled it to broaden its reach into untapped markets, such as atrial fibrillation," according to MD&DI. The Company "consistently exceeds expectations - its own, as well as those of the market," the article says.

"This recognition belongs to more than 9,000 St. Jude Medical employees around the world, whose relentless pursuit of quality and commitment to patient care reflect the essence of our business," said Daniel J. Starks, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Jude Medical, Inc. "As a company, we strive to meet the highest standards in all our operations, while investing in research and development to ensure a robust product pipeline and innovative new technologies for our physician and patient customers."
