Hugle in Baton Rouge - Exercise alone doesn't cause a heart attack. In fact, if you read over our topic on Exercise After Stenting, you'll find many heart patients who are running marathons, even one who is an Ironman triathelete. However, if you have a significant blockage that is untreated (and 70% would probably be classified as such) then your heart muscle already is getting a decreased amount of blood and oxygen. Strenuous exercise places a demand on the heart muscle and, if the muscle doesn't receive sufficient oxygen, it could go into rhythmic disturbances, or cause a condition known as unstable angina, acute coronary syndrome (ACS) -- these can lead to a heart attack. However, there are other scenarios, such as a plaque rupture, which may have nothing or little to do with exercise. Angioplasty.Org Staff, Angioplasty.Org, June 14, 2013
I had a heart attack a day after I cut grass by a pushed mower (25,000sqf lot ) a day before . So, did a hard work or an extensive exercise can trigger an heart attack ? (we knew we already had , ex , a 70% blocked coronary artery). HUGLE, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, June 10, 2013
